The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a non-profit public charity dedicated to dramatically increasing the adoptions of children in North America’s foster care system who are without permanent families. Our emphasis is on special needs children, children older than two, sibling groups, minorities, and emotionally and physically challenged children. Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s and an adopted child himself, created the Foundation in 1992 with the vision that every child deserves a permanent home and a loving family.

 

Wendy's founder, Dave Thomas, supported the ongoing commitment to the advancement, development, and support of young people. He encourages their aspirations to improve themselves and their communities. With this in mind, Dave created an award that recognizes today's top scholars, athletes, and citizens among America's high school students. Each Fall, the program recognizes the most esteemed men and women seniors in our nation’s high schools for excellence in academics, community service and athletics.
